Wizards enable those who are unfamiliar with SimaPro and/or Life Cycle Assessment to model and analyze products through a predefined question and answer tree. The LCA Wizard in the SimaPro demo and all full versions is an example of a Wizard.

Wizards can save your company valuable time. It can also drastically reduce the chances of introducing errors by limiting the choices available and directing the user at each step of the way.

The possibility to create wizards is a unique feature in the SimaPro Developer version.

Data and Wizards can be distributed with any SimaPro version, such as the low cost SimaPro Compact. The versions has less advanced features, but is perfect for large scale distribution of Wizards and databases. This makes it an ideal solution for industry associations or larger companies to disseminate data and promote life cycle thinking.

Example

A Wizard could be written to allow the design department in your organization to model designs and analyze a complete life cycle for a certain product range. The wizard would prompt the user at each step for an answer, limiting the choices of inputs to a few variables, such as transport or packaging options.

Requirements for creating wizards

The only requirement is that one employee in your company understands the principles of Life Cycle Assessment, the working of SimaPro and does know how to write wizards.
