How do I order SimaPro?

Please fax a signed fax order form to PRé or one of our partners. Many partners have their own order form in the local currency. Company purchase orders are accepted if accompanied with our signed fax order form.

Orders via phone or e-mail are not accepted.

What do I get with my order?

When you order SimaPro, you receive the latest SimaPro release on CD-ROM and a registration code. The registration code will always be send via e-mail! Please make sure you whitelist the pre.nl domain, or that our our partner, in your spamfilter.

The software license includes software plus the professional database containing inventory databases and impact assessment methods.

An ecoinvent v2 database license is included in all new SimaPro licenses. With the ecoinvent database license, you will receive the ecoinvent CD-ROM with documentation and a login code for the ecoinvent web site. Please note that while updates of the ecoinvent database within a version are included in your service contract, upgrades to new versions such as ecoinvent version 3 are not.

Manuals are supplied as PDF on the installation CD. A printed copy of the Introduction to LCA and the Tutorial are included.

Indefinite licenses include a free first year service contract. This gives you software and database updates, plus access to helpdesk. Service contracts are automatically renewed each year, you can also order multiple years in advance. Temporary licenses always include service and support for the period of the license.

When will I get my order?

After receipt of your fax order form, we normally send your order by registered mail within a week. The registration code will always be send via e-mail! Delivery times vary per country. Express courier service is optional (100 Euro).

You can also download the installation file, and install with the registration codes that we (or our partner) will send via e-mail after receipt of your order.

Can I test SimaPro before I buy?

First of all you can try our demo version. Else you can try our one year temporary license(s).

I already have an ecoinvent license.

If you already have an official ecoinvent v2 license and do not use it in another application, you can obtain the ecoinvent v2 database in SimaPro format for 300 Euro (conversion fee). Note that you must show us proof of purchase. If you want to order a professional SimaPro license where the license is included, contact us to learn about the conditions.

Note that you must have the correct ecoinvent license(s) for the SimaPro license you order. For example, you cannot order a SimaPro multi user license in combination with a single user ecoinvent license.

Can I buy a SimaPro license now and purchase additional databases later?

Yes, as long as you have a valid service contract.

Upon purchase of an additional database such as the Japanese Input Output database, you receive a new registration code so that you can install it. Installation and import instructions will be sent with the registration code.

Can I buy a SimaPro license now and upgrade to a different version later?

Yes, as long as you have a valid service contract.

With indefinite licenses, you can upgrade to a more advanced professional version, from a single user to a multi user license or from an educational to a professional license. You only pay the price difference (based on the current price list) plus the adjustment of your service contract. In some cases you may need to purchase additional ecoinvent licenses.

For temporary licenses, upgrading to an indefinite license is only possible during the time your temporary license is active.

Whatever upgrade you choose, you can continue working with the same database. You will not loose your data!

How do I pay?

An invoice is sent separately and can be paid by bank transfer, MasterCard or Visa. Payments must be made in Euro. Bank account information is available on request. Please note that we reserve the right to ask for prepayment.

Our partners may have different payment conditions. Currency fluctuations also mean prices in their local currency can deviate slightly. Our partners charge VAT as applicable in their country.

Can you send me a pro forma invoice or quotation?

Pro forma invoices and quotations can be sent on request. Please describe your requirements in detail.

Why do you need my VAT number?

VAT (BTW/TVA/IVA/MOMS/MWS) is not to be paid by non Dutch customers.

When ordering from an EU country, organisations are VAT exempt only if PRé can show your valid VAT number to the tax collector. This is why we want you to enter it on the order form. If we have no valid number, we have to charge 19% VAT.

Note that if you order through our local partner, they will charge local taxes as applicable in your country.

The VAT number of PRé is NL 812691003B01. PRé is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Amersfoort under number 32099599.

I have no VAT number.

Each organisation in the EU has a VAT (tax) number. If you do not have it, please contact your administrative or financial department. They must be able to help you.

Private persons ordering SimaPro will have to pay 19% tax. Note that a VAT number is not your personal tax number!

If you are outside the European Union there is no need to enter your VAT number.

Do I have to pay import duties and taxes?

Your order may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied after a shipment reaches you. Charges for customs clearance must be borne by you. We have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely; contact your local customs office for further information.

If your organization is in the European Union, no duties and additional taxes are charged if you supply us with a valid VAT number. Dutch clients always pay 19% VAT (BTW).

What is the advantage of a service contract?

A service contract gives you all software and database updates, including new versions such as SimaPro 7.3 or 8.0 at no extra costs. Furthermore, it gives you access to helpdesk.

Indefinite licenses include a free first year service contract, temporary licenses always include service and support for the period of the license.

Can I get a service contract for multiple years?

Yes. You can order up to three years of service contract in advance, when you order the first time or with any service contract renewal. We offer 5% discount on the 2nd year contract, and 10% discount on a 3 year contract.

My organization does not allow automatic renewal of service contracts.

I want to cancel my service contract.

Please send us an e-mail, fax or letter with cancellation, preferably 1 month before the expiration date of your current contract.

Note that after cancellation, you cannot renew your service contract anymore. To update, you need to buy a new license for at least 75% of latest list price.

How many installations do you allow?

For each user license, one installation is allowed. We use software activation to prevent illegal installations.

The SimaPro Faculty license allows all students and staff of your department or faculty to install a single user version of SimaPro, provided it is used for educational use only. For the SimaPro Classroom client-server version, the client can be installed as often as needed.

What copy protection system do you use?

We do not use expensive copy protection keys or dongles, that get lost or stolen. Instead, we use an advanced software activation system.

You can activate SimaPro via internet automatically, via a browser or via e-mail. In this process no personal details are collected.

Deactivation must be done to free up your activation, this is done by uninstalling the software.

Can I publish my LCA results made with SimaPro?

Of course, they are yours. If you still feel you need permission, please contact us.

Can I use the data in your libraries in other software tools?

The licensing conditions of our database suppliers normally do not allow this, as is also detailed in the SimaPro license conditions. Note however that you are allowed to edit your results in other tools.

What are the technical requirements for SimaPro?

SimaPro 7.2 can be run on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2003 or 2008 (R2). SimaPro can run on 64bit operating systems, and access the extra memory (up to 4GB).

We recommend a minimum of 2 GB RAM.

Does SimaPro run on a Macintosh or Linux machine?

If you use a Windows emulator and have sufficient memory, SimaPro should work on Macintosh and Linux systems. We do not guarantee full functionality. We also give no technical support related to non-Windows systems.

Yes.
