 The
ecoinvent database version 2 will be released in November 2007. It
will contain over 3500 processes, with many new and updated datasets.
For current ecoinvent v1 users, a special upgrade discount applies until
the release of version 2.
Advantages of ecoinvent
v2
In the new ecoinvent v2 database you will find over 3500 datasets,
against 2700 in version 1.
The data are mainly based on industry data and are often developed in
cooperation with industry. In addition, all electricity mixes, provided
on country level, are updated to the latest standards.
Compared to version 1 of the database, process data for the following
sectors are added:
- Information and communication technology and
electronics.
- Renewable energies and renewable materials.
- Mechanical engineering processes
- Recent North and South American plus Asian electricity mixes on country
level.
- New energy systems such as combined heat and power plants
(CHP).
- Agricultural processes of many countries
- Road transport data are differentiated by the newest standards, and include noise emissions.
Of course the data include uncertainty data, which you can
analyze using the SimaPro Monte
Carlo analysis feature.
PRé Consultants will provide the new database as two SimaPro
libraries. You will have access to both the unit processes ("raw"
data, for detailed analysis) and the systems (calculated results,
for quick results). No conversion or adaptations are needed, we do this
work for you! The existing ecoinvent v1 libraries will not be
overwritten.
In a license for the ecoinvent v2 database are also included:
- Full and unlimited access to the
ecoinvent website.
- The ecoinvent v2 CD-ROM with all background reports, including detailed
descriptions of all datasets.
- Standard ecoinvent data support from the ecoinvent Centre
Support for the ecoinvent v2 database, including
updates within this version, is covered under the SimaPro
service contract.

Release date
The release date of the new database is set for November 2007. Of
course you will be informed when we know the official release date.
We are sure that you understand the challenges in the development of
such a
large database, and that for this reason no final release date can yet be given.
After release by the ecoinvent centre, we will get the
ecoinvent v2 database to you in SimaPro format as soon as possible.

This special offer is valid until the release of version 2 and is only for SimaPro users
with an ecoinvent v1 license.
Please note that to receive the ecoinvent v2 database, you need a
valid SimaPro service contract.

How to order
To order the ecoinvent v2 upgrade, use the
fax
order form. You can order through PRé or our
SimaPro partners.
After receipt of
your order you will receive a confirmation, followed by a new
registration code for SimaPro. With the release of ecoinvent v2, you
will automatically receive the new database in SimaPro format and the
ecoinvent v2 CD-ROM. Your current access code for the ecoinvent web site
will remain valid and does not change.
