Sustainability Initiatives
PRé partners with several organizations whose mission and goal is to foster a more transparent and responsible business community for a sustainable future.
Global initiatives
- Sustainability Consortium: The Sustainability Consortium drives scientific research and the development of standards and IT tools, through a collaborative process, to enhance the ability to understand and address the environmental, social, and economic implications of products. We are participating in several working groups: measurement science, IT standards & tools, food, beverage & agriculture, home & personal care, electronics, and consumer science.
- Global Reporting Initiative (GRI): PRé Consultants is an organizational stakeholder of the GRI since 2005. The GRI is a network-based organization that has pioneered the development of the world’s most widely used sustainability reporting framework. This framework sets out the principles and indicators that organizations are using to measure and report their economic, environmental, and social performance.
- Greenhouse Gas Protocol Initiative (GHG Protocol): The new GHG Protocol standards will provide a standardized method to inventory the emissions associated with individual products across their full life cycles and of corporate value chains, taking into account impacts both upstream and downstream of the company’s operations. We are participating in working groups for both standards, the Scope 3 Standard and the Product Standard.
- Earthster: Transparency demonstrates to our consumers and clients that we are accountable, credible and relevant. PRé Consultants is the first sponsor of Earthster, a platform developing an open source distributed database, where any company can publish its data on its own website.
- UNEP-SETAC Life Cycle Initiative : PRé Consultants is a platinum sponsor of the Life Cycle Initiative which aims to disseminate life cycle thinking worldwide by enhancing global consensus, supporting research, and investing in capacity building in developing countries.
- Water Footprint Network: PRé Consultants is a member of the Water Footprint Network, which coordinates efforts to further develop and disseminate knowledge on water footprint concepts, methods and tools. Unique to the network is that it brings together partners from diverse origins: knowledge institutions, non-governmental sector, private sector, governments and the United Nations.
