To
develop EU legislation on the environmental performance of Energy using
Products (EuP), the MEEuP methodology was created.
In MEEuP, data are
collected for the environmental impact of materials and processes in the
life cycle of EuPs.
The MEEuP (Method for
the Evaluation of Energy using Products)
methodology was developed by VHK
consultants in the Netherlands. You can download the methodology and
cases reports below.
Although intended for product group assessment within the EuP
legislative process, the method does give certain guidance to identify
the major
environmental impacts of a product. As such, the method can be used by manufacturers of
electronic products and other stakeholders. You can do this with the EuP
database in SimaPro, or use the Excel
tool by VHK for the calculation of life cycle indicators.

Download EuP database for SimaPro 7.1
(0.9 MB). The MEEuP data in SimaPro can be used with a wizard to
allow users to model the life cycle of EuPs. In SimaPro you can make
an assessment of the contribution of processes to environmental
impacts of EuP’s. This wizard follows the modelling criteria of the
MEEuP and is more versatile than the MEEuP Excel tool, although
slight variations might appear. Note: you need
SimaPro 7.1 demo or full
version to open the database (use File, Open SimaPro database).
EuP
Wizard manual(PDF, 0.4 MB) will guide you through
the use of the wizards to model your own energy using products
according to the MEEuP.
EuP EcoReport spreadsheet(XLS, 1.9 MB) includes the Excel tool delivered as part of
the MEEuP project results.
